I couldn’t quite go today with out posting about this release since this is where we get our nice preview of The Dark Knight from. I have nothing really to say much about this film as I think its just too amazing too describe…if you havn’t guessed yet its one of my favarite films of all time. Its been a few days since I posted about the release of Hancock in Cinemas (here) that I have now had the chance to finally go see the film for myself and I have to say it was not exactly what I was expecting. Havinh seen the trailer I expected it to basically be about Hancock’s failure as a superhero and public figure of authority, then change into a good superhero who is finally respected by the public. If this one is a suprise to me then its definatly a suprise to you as well, unless you have way too much free time on your hands! This sequel, shot 7 years after the last Mummy film (The Mummy Returns) looks like quite an impressive film. Yet its revival does come with some alterations. For a start O’Connell’s (Fraser) wife, who was orginally played by Rachel Weisz is now being performed by Maria Bello. And in what looks to be an interesting plot Jet Li plays a main role as the ‘the bad guy’ or ‘The Dragon Emperor.’ As with all these upcoming films only time will tell. Read on to view trailers.

It’s planned for a release window of two to four weeks prior to the release of The Dark Knight, and would bridge the gap between Batman Begins and The Dark Knight.

On DVD and Bluray Now:
After making The Dark Knight my first post on Rubixtreme I think its best that I say a little something about this quite interesting release. I have to say that I’ve not always been a fan of this style of anime or anime itself for that matter but this series holds something different. Much like The Animatrix, which was released inbetween the gap between The Matrix and The Matrix Reloaded this DVD is comprised of a number of stories that will help put The Dark Knight in slightly more context. I actually believe it does it really well, starting off and ending with stories that show a real human side to batman. And of course watching this take place within such beautiful animation is another pleasure that collectors will probably treasure. I’d say that if you enjoy the Batman series, buy this. If your not particulary interested or are not looking forward to the release of The Dark Knight then this might not be for you.Read on to view trailers.

This week has seen shocking news come to light over the possible future of much-loved British car show Top Gear. Two of shows presenters, namly Hammond and May have till the end of this month to renew their contracts, which means agreeing to all terms. However a sort of deadlock has been reached as they have refused to sign unless they recieve the same amount of pay as Clarkson.

New news came to light today which suggested a new deal had been offered but the pair where still not happy. Clarkson has stated himself that he doesn’t belive they will leave: “They won’t leave. It’s the best job in the world. I’d pay to do it.” (The Sun) and I hope not either…it wouldn’t be Top Gear without them!

In Cinemas Now:
Having just posted The Incredable Hulk I decided I would review the other Marvel comic that was recently turned into a film for the big screen. Iron Man tells the story of Tony Stark, played by Academy Award Winner Robert Downey Jr, from his origins as a self proclaimed millionair to the mechanic superhero Iron Man. By far the most interesting aspect of the film is that Stark actualy has no super powers, in essence he builds his powers using the suit. As with all Marvel films theres the cameo apperance from Stan Lee…but I won’t tell you where, and I think there is a really good blend of comedy and action. In comparison the The Incredable Hulk I’d day this is the better Marvel film to see this summer, overall its just a better film. Read on to view trailers.

On DVD and Bluray Now:
For a film with such an ordinary title comes an extraordinary story! Ever since seeing this on the big screen I have been waiting for the DVD release of this film. Of course for you HD junkies out there, with your massive plasma/lcd tv’s this is a nice one to have in Bluray format as well. The Bank Job stars Jason Statham in his ‘typical’ role (i.e. the honest crook) and centers around a scandelous story involving Princess Margaret and its cover-up. The film did take a while to get going but once in the thick of it, it takes you to extreme highs and sad lows, something which is rarley done in these type of films. However by far one of the stongest elements of this film is that it is based on a true story, which at the end of the film leaves the audience in a state of wonder. Overall this has been one of my favorite films of 2008 and I think most people will agree, but only the comments will tell. Read on to view trailers.
